Gabriel graduated with first-class honours in 2022. He majored in Journalism and Politics and Public Administration, with a specialisation in International Relations. He was the recipient of scholarships like the Sir Man Kam Lo/Jardine Scholarship and the K. K. Ho Prize during his time at HKU. He has freelanced for news outlets like The Diplomat and Hong Kong Free Press.

Anne double majored in Journalism and Economics. She interned at NBC News and freelanced with various newsagents, such as the Hong Kong Economic Journal, during her time at HKU. She is currently a reporter for RTHK. Prior to her role at RTHK, she was a reporter/anchor at ViuTV News.

The four-year undergraduate program, which consists of traditional reporting and writing training, and new digital media courses, has given me the tools I need to be an all-rounded journalist in this rapidly changing new landscape where media is facing unprecedented challenges.

Jing Yang

Award-winning journalist Jing Yang left journalism twice, and twice she came back. At the Wall Street Journal, she took a leading role in a series of investigative reports on China’s regulatory clampdown on tech companies, which won two SOPA awards and other recognitions from American press organisations. She is now the Asia bureau chief of The Information, a technology and business online news media.

Natalie Wang

Natalie Wang founded Vino Joy News, an English-language online media company dedicated to the wine business in China, in 2019, after covering the industry for half a decade. She was recognised as one of the 50 most influential women in the wine and spirits industry in 2021 by the Women in Wine and Spirits Awards. The Vino Joy News editor was the only Chinese journalist nominated for the 2023 Wine Communicator of the Year at the International Wine and Spirit Competition.

Pip Stewart

MJ 2010, Pip Stewart, Motivational Speaker
Pip Stewart quit her corporate job in London in 2009 to study at the JMSC. She turned her three-month adventure through Guyana’s rainforest into a book, “Life Lessons From the Amazon.” While trekking through the jungle, she contracted leishmaniasis, which motivated her to raise awareness of the neglected disease and its impact on local communities. Pip is now a motivational speaker and writes children's books that encourage family adventures and a love for nature.

Aleksander Solum

MJ 2014, Aleksander Solum, Executive Producer for Video, South China Morning Post
Aleksander Solum honed his video storytelling skills first at Monocle magazine in London and later at ABC Nyheter and NTB Scanpix in Oslo. While studying, he freelanced for various international media such as BBC and Al Jazeera. After graduation, he worked at various news outlets in Hong Kong before returning to the South China Morning Post as executive producer for video in late 2022.
