The Journalism and Media Studies Centre is housed in Eliot Hall, which was built in 1914, three years after the founding of The University of Hong Kong (HKU). The building was declared an official monument in 2018 by the Hong Kong government along with our sister building May Hall and Fung Ping Shan Building, which houses the University Museum and Art Gallery.

In 2001, the University transformed Eliot Hall into a state-of-the-art facility for training journalists while preserving the building’s heritage.

Facilities for students to use include the Digital Media Lab, Post-production room and Student lounge, complete with the latest computer and multimedia technology for producing, editing and viewing content.
