Anchor Academy: Inside the TV Newsroom

Step into the heart of a real TV newsroom and see how broadcast journalism comes to life. In this hands-on workshop, secondary school students will rotate through key newsroom roles — from sitting at the anchor desk and reading the news, to trying your hand in the control room, to delivering a weather report in front of the green screen. You’ll learn how a team brings a live bulletin together, experiment with on-air performance, and see what it’s like to work behind the scenes.

We look forward to welcoming you to the School of Future Media for an afternoon of exploration, teamwork, and discovering the excitement of live news production.

Date: Tuesday, December 16

Time: 2:30pm to 4:30pm

Venue: Studio (EHG01), Eliot Hall, HKU

Alumni Stories

  • ‘Think global’—the best phrase to summarise my three-year experience on the Bachelor of Journalism programme at the JMSC. Immersed in an environment with international cohorts and faculty members, offered the opportunity to take part in world-class exchange programmes, connected to a wide-range of local and international internships, I learned the essence of journalism with a wide exposure to the globalised world.
BJ 2013, James Chan, Senior Manager, Charities, The Hong Kong Jockey Club
  • My four-year journey at HKU Journalism took me many places, and I left with a lot of fond memories and friends. My professors never shied away from imparting their knowledge and experience, and always took the time to guide me in the right direction. The tight community of staff, alumni and students at the Journalism and Media Studies Centre meant that there was always someone close by.
BJ 2018, Martin Choi, Business Reporter, South China Morning Post
