HKU Journalism has opened up opportunities for me to explore a wide range of fields in the media industry and broadened my horizons through an exchange program.

Enrolling in HKU Journalism in 2019, amidst the backdrop of social movements and the pandemic, was both challenging and transformative for me in a new environment. During a time when the world was grappling with the shift to online learning, we were extremely honored to receive hands-on training and fervent support from our teachers.

The flexible course choices allowed me to give a try on everything from interviewing and story writing to strategic communications and beyond. The double-major structure allowed me to dive deep into both journalism and my enthusiasm for Japanese literature. With the skills I gained in both fields, I now have the tools to forge a dynamic and flexible career, blending my passions and professional aspirations.”

Andris double majored in Journalism and Japanese Studies (Special Honours in Japanese Language). He is currently working as a Marketing Executive at Nintendo.
