Education in responsible journalism urgently required in Myanmar and other authoritarian Asian states

Fifty years of military rule has left Myanmar with a shortage of journalists and an immediate need for journalism and news literacy education taught with an emphasis on balanced, ethical reporting, according to JMSC associate professor, Masato Kajimoto.

JMSC Student Wins International New York Times Competition

Joyce Xu, a third year Bachelor of Journalism student from Hong Kong, has won the International New York Times “Word (World) of Yours” Writing Competition 2013 for her article, “The Impact of Social Media on Global Awareness,” which was published April 1 in the INYT’s Hong Kong and China print editions.

Two Veteran Journalists from Top U.S. News Organizations Join JMSC Faculty

Two seasoned journalists from The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times have joined the Journalism and Media Studies Centre as Adjust Professors. Adam Najberg (WSJ) will be teaching a course on financial journalism, while Brian Zittel (NYT) will teach opinion writing. Both stress the importance of "telling a good story."
