‘A living museum’ — BJ Students visit historical Pokfulam Village and interview docents

In March 2024, a group of JMSC students attended a docent tour at the Pokfulam village and interviewed tour guides Mr Lee Sui Wah and Jenny Tsang, who shared their ten-year journey and experiences as a docent. To encourage continued efforts in conserving the Pokfulam village's heritage, Wah and Jenny featured Issac Lee's (BJ 2024) and Esther Lee's (BJ 2026) articles in the Caritas – Hong Kong Pokfulam Community Development Project newsletter.

Gabriel Fung

BJ 2022, Gabriel Fung, MPhil IR Candidate, University of Oxford
Gabriel graduated with first-class honours in 2022. He majored in Journalism and Politics and Public Administration, with a specialisation in International Relations. He was the recipient of scholarships like the Sir Man Kam Lo/Jardine Scholarship and the K. K. Ho Prize during his time at HKU. He has freelanced for news outlets like The Diplomat and Hong Kong Free Press.

Anne Chan

Anne double majored in Journalism and Economics. She interned at NBC News and freelanced with various newsagents, such as the Hong Kong Economic Journal, during her time at HKU. She is currently a reporter for RTHK. Prior to her role at RTHK, she was a reporter/anchor at ViuTV News.

HKU journalism has prepared me for a career in international media. The four-year undergraduate program, which consists of traditional reporting and writing training, and new digital media courses, has given me the tools I need to be an all-rounded journalist in this rapidly changing new landscape where media is facing unprecedented challenges.

Robin Pang

BJ 2008, Robin Pang, Director of Relationship Manager, HSBC Global Private Banking Division
Having built a successful career at HSBC, Robin Pang is now a director at the bank’s global private banking division. Part of the "Magic 20," the first cohort of the BJ programme at the JMSC, he pursued a double degree in journalism and finance. Robin attributes his career success to empathy and lifelong learning.
