I came to HKU Journalism with no background in journalism, equipped only with a desire to learn and stories of how intense the MJ program would be. Adaptability, flexibility and tenacity were drilled into us in the form of world-class teaching across audio, video, and writing programs. These lessons were compounded even more by the changing political realities of Hong Kong in the backdrop of a global pandemic. In one year, the Journalism and Media Studies Centre gave me training and expertise that will live long in my professional life and a strength of character and resolve that will last me a lifetime.
