Upper respiratory tract infection outbreak at elderly home, 33 infected

Residents and six staff members at an elderly home in Tai Hang were infected with the upper respiratory tract infection (URI), The Centre for Health Protection (CHP)  today reported.

All infected residents are women aged between 75 and 100. They have developed fever, cough, runny nose and sore throat since March 23. All of them have sought medical attention while seven of them are at the hospital and currently in stable condition.

A CHP spokesman reminded the public to maintain good personal and environmental cleanness against respiratory illnesses.
