Applications are invited for appointments as  Senior Lecturer/Lecturer (several posts) in the Journalism and Media Studies Centre (JMSC) (Ref.: 523836), to commence on August 1, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in Journalism, Digital Media or related fields, with substantial years of proven professional and practical experience in the journalism/media/film industries. Basic knowledge of digital media is required, while advanced knowledge and experience in Hong Kong, Mainland China or Asia will be a definite advantage. Priority will be given to those with experience in teaching professional courses at the tertiary level.

The appointees will be responsible for teaching courses in one or more of the following areas: (1) English News Reporting and Writing, from elementary to advanced levels, for print and multimedia output; (2). Business and Financial Journalism; (3) Video and Film Production.  They will also contribute to or take leadership roles in curriculum and course development at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including common core courses for non-journalism or media students.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
