April 18: SND Shanghai Meetup

An event sponsored by the Journalism and Media Studies Centre will be held at the HKU Shanghai Study Centre on Monday, April 18.

SND Shanghai Meetup — News Design from the Other Side of the World: South American Newspapers, Magazines and Web Sites.

The event will be chaired by Lily Lu, Executive Director of the Society for News Design Chinese (SND Chinese).

Speakers:
Cristóbal Edwards, professor of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile’s school of journalism, advisor to Society for News Design’s executive committee
Presentation: “News Design from the Other Side of the World: South American Newspapers, Magazines and Web Sites.”

Jeremiah Foo, technical chief and manager of the Convergent Media Lab, Cheung Kong School of Journalism and Communication, Shantou University, China. Honorary Lecturer at the JMSC of HKU.
Presentation: “Getting Your Publications Ready For the App-based Economy.”

Amazon, Apple, Google and Microsoft will be making a push for their app stores in the next 18 months, making this the hottest contested market in the future.
