Honorary Lecturer

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Catherine Chan is an independent producer and audience designer. 

She received training from EURODOC, Torino Film Lab (TFL) Audience Design, and CEE Animation Workshop. With her Hong Kong film teams, Catherine won multiple awards at international pitching forums and film festivals. 

She assisted Oscar-winning filmmaker Ruby Yang to establish the Hong Kong Documentary Initiative in 2015. 

After completing a bachelor’s degree in journalism from The University of Hong Kong, Catherine pursued an Erasmus Mundus joint master’s degree in media arts cultures, spending two academic years in three countries: Austria, Poland and Denmark. 

She currently splits her time between Hong Kong and Denmark to develop a start-up focusing on audience engagement and privacy data protection, as well as supporting documentary film productions, from story development to distribution.
