JMSC to offer big data analytics workshops

The Journalism and Media Studies Centre is co-organizing with the Society for Hong Kong Studies a 10-workshop series on using the programming language Python in big data research. The workshops will be taught by Yuner Junior Zhu, a PhD candidate at JMSC, and supervised by Dr. King-wa Fu, Associate Professor.

The workshops, which will be held from January to March 2019, are designed to equip social scientists with basic know-what and know-how knowledge about computational methodology. They will introduce the knowledge and techniques on natural language processing, web crawling, sentiment analysis, data visualisation, and machine learning. Participants will also learn critical know-how about social media analytics and gain practical implementation experiences.

Please visit the workshop website for more information. Registration details are available here.
