PhD Student
Short introduction:
I’m Haohan (Lily) Hu, a 4th-year PhD candidate at the Journalism and Media Studies Centre, The University of Hong Kong. My research focuses on political communication in authoritarian contexts and transnational, cross-platform news flow, using computational and multimodal methods to analyse textual and video data. Reasons for choosing JMSC:
I chose JMSC for its interdisciplinary strengths and methodological expertise in political communication and computational social science. Supportive supervisors and a small, quiet atmosphere a focused environment for work, making JMSC an ideal place for my postgraduate studies.

I am currently an M.Phil. candidate at JMSC. I use computational and quantitative methods to understand how people's attention, knowledge, decisions, and communication are affected by high-choice information systems, and its political implications.
