Symposium on Digital Research into Media and Politics (24 Aug)

JMSC co-organized the “Symposium on Digital Research into Media and Politics: International & Hong Kong Studies” on 24 August with the Society of Hong Kong Studies. The event was well attended with over 90 local and international scholars, experts and students, representing academic institutions from Hong Kong, Austria, France, Germany, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.

Speakers at the symposium presented their new findings, giving their expert views on how digital research methods were employed to address social science questions with theoretical and empirical significance. Attendees also learned about a variety of novel approaches of analyses conducted for topics of media and politics in Hong Kong, China, and the East Asian region. In the final roundtable, distinguished guest speakers examined the development of digital research in Hong Kong in recent years and identified possible strategies to enhance new methodological opportunities in order to produce meaningful findings to society.
