Michael Shen has more than 15 years of experience in journalism and filmmaking industry. After working as a reporter and editor at Shanghai Media Group (SMG), he joined China Central Television (CCTV) in Beijing, covering politics, sports, culture and social issues as a senior reporter and producer. 

During his stints at SMG and CCTV, Michael reported on the Olympics several times: Beijing, London and Rio de Janeiro. In 2014, he won a China Journalism Award for his reportage on the country’s judicial reform for CCTV.

He later became an independent producer and director of TV programmes, commercials and documentaries with clients such as CCTV, China National Geographic, Bilibili and Tencent. Michael is also an expert in social media communications, such as WeChat, Xiaohongshu and TikTok.
