Ivan Abreu is a Brazilian filmmaker, photographer, educator, and multimedia journalist based in Hong Kong, with over 20 years of experience creating documentaries, TV, and digital content across Brazil, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Specialising in visual storytelling, his collaborations include, among others, Bloomberg, Globo News, Getty Images, Channel 4, NOS Netherlands, Brazilian Public Television, Al Jazeera and TVE Spain. His award-winning work, featured in international festivals, focuses on uncovering lesser-known narratives through longer-term, in-depth documentaries and impactful journalism.

An experienced educator, Ivan conducts workshops on filmmaking and visual storytelling, mentoring journalists and students worldwide. He has also worked with NGOs such as Greenpeace, MSF, the Red Cross, and UN agencies like the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and UNAIDS.
Holding a degree in Communication and Arts, Ivan has been invited to speak at institutions like The University of Hong Kong, Asia Society and Hong Kong Baptist University.
