MJ 2022, Alyssa Chen, China Reports, SCMP

The one-year MJ programme was a transformative one that left me better equipped to navigate the ever-evolving challenges of the media landscape. I already had some foundational skills before coming into the programme, but it allowed me to take my reporting abilities to the next level.

At JMSC, I gained hands-on experience in areas beyond traditional text reporting, such as podcast production, data journalism, and multimedia storytelling, all of which are becoming increasingly important in today’s newsroom. The programme also deepened my understanding of China and the broader geopolitical landscape, which has been invaluable for my current role.

I was particularly grateful for the programme’s focus on practical learning and its strong connections with the industry, which helped me hone the skills I now use to cover major international conferences and breaking news events.
