24 October 2024JMSC Hosted MJ Admissions Webinar and Announced New Concentrations
On 15 October, the JMSC held an informational session for prospective students and participants, offering a sneak peek into the developments for the 2025-26 academic year.
JMSC Director Ruby Yang, director of the Master of Journalism (MJ) programme Ting Shi, and senior professional practitioner Neil Gough presented an overview of the MJ programme and introduced the new Business and Financial Journalism (BFC) concentration and A.I. concentration.
Starting in 2025 Fall, the new BFC concentration offers the opportunity to take up to two elective courses at the HKU Business School and collaborate with a BFC advisor on the Capstone project. This specialisation aims to provide a deeper understanding of the current demands and practices for covering business-related news.
The session also featured valuable contributions from alumni Peter Guo (MJ 2024) and Jiaxin Lu (MJ 2024), who shared their experiences and offered practical tips for maximising the student experience at the JMSC.
