10 November 2024JMSC Held BJ Admissions Talk and A.I. News Anchor Workshop at HKU Information Day
The JMSC was thrilled to welcome such a great turnout of prospective students and parents who were eager to learn more about our Bachelor of Journalism programme (BJ, #JS6822) — a unique double-major degree that focuses on strategic communications and multimedia storytelling in the digital age.
Director Ruby Yang and BJ programme director AJ Libunao led the admissions talk and introduced the programme to more than 200 participants. The session featured a panel discussion among our alumni, Cheryl Yuen (BJ 2020), Andris Ho (BJ 2023), Sasha Stepanova (BJ 2024), and Gigi Tang (BJ 2024), who have gone on to build careers in journalism and marketing at organisations including Nintendo and i-Cable News. They shared how the holistic programme structure of the BJ programme enabled them to acquire hands-on skills in both journalism and communication, plus a second major of their choice, providing flexible pathways and career options that go beyond the media industry.
We were also proud to showcase our media innovation capabilities through an interactive A.I. News Anchor Workshop — as one of the first programmes at HKU to offer A.I. courses to our students.
We look forward to welcoming all the enthusiastic future HKUers to the JMSC in the next academic year!
