“My four-year journey at HKU Journalism took me many places, and I left with a lot of fond memories and friends. My professors never shied away from imparting their knowledge and experience, and always took the time to guide me in the right direction. The tight community of staff, alumni and students at the Journalism and Media Studies Centre meant that there was always someone close by.”

Martin double-majored in Journalism and Global Studies. During his time at HKU, he interned at Forbes in Hong Kong and Agence France-Presse in Shanghai. In his third year, he spent a semester at the Danish School of Media and Journalism in Aarhus, Denmark, where he was part of a select group of international students that completed the World Politics, Multimedia and Journalism programme.

He won the University-English Language Broadcast Prize at the 2017 Human Rights Press Awards for “Seeking Refuge in Lesvos”, his on-site multimedia reportage about the refugee situation on the Greek island of Lesvos.

He is now a graduate trainee at the South China Morning Post.
