Prominent Journalist to Speak on Mainland Media’s Finances and Ethics

Zhu Xuedong, a veteran journalist who has served as top editor at a number of leading news magazines and newspapers in mainland China, will speak at The University of Hong Kong on September 15.

The theme of Zhu’s talk will be “Chinese Media Against the Bottom line (粗鄙時代的中國傳媒),” an exploration of how the mainland media are struggling to survive in an era of corruption, and to maintain professionalism as material and political concerns push them toward unethical conduct.

Zhu’s talk, sponsored by HKU’s Journalism and Media Studies Centre, will be in Mandarin.

关于講者:

朱學東,中國大陸著名媒體人。1989年7月畢業於中國人民大學哲學系,先後任職北京印刷學院、新聞出版署,曾任信息早報副總編輯、傳媒雜誌常務副主編、新生代市場監測機構董事、南風窗雜誌總編輯、中國週刊總編輯。現為自由撰稿人,是多家傳統媒體和網絡媒體的專欄作者,活躍的微博寫手。豐富的媒體工作經歷,使他對中國大陸新聞體制有較多思考和反省。
