Sept 22: Public Lecture – Storytelling in a Multiplatform World

Dr. Mario Garcia, renowned international news designer and media consultant who has redesigned more than 550 newspapers, publications and websites, will give a lecture on Storytelling in a Multiplatform World on Wednesday 22 September.

The lecture will place a special emphasis on how the arrival of tablets is changing the media.

“If you are a professional in the media, or a student entering the field, you must learn about the impact of storytelling across platforms,” said Garcia.

“These are the most exciting times to practice our craft, while the challenge is how to produce content that seduces and retains the most educated, tech savvy and impatient audience ever.”

Garcia is CEO and founder of Garcia Media; he helps media companies to rethink their products to survive in a multi-platform world.

The publications he has advised include the Wall Street Journal (America), Paris Match (France), Die Zeit (Germany), El Mercurio (Chile), The Hindu (India), Il Secolo XIX (Italy) and the Goteborg-Posten (Sweden).

Garcia was the first person to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of News Designs and has written several books on the subject, most recently, Pure Design.
