The Journalism and Media Studies Centre is now accepting applications for its Master of Journalism program for the 2015-2016 academic year.
To kick off the process, the JMSC will be holding an Admissions Open Day on Friday, November 28, at 6:30 pm. It will be held in the Digital Media Lab of Eliot Hall, the JMSC’s headquarters on The University of Hong Kong campus.
The event will feature an introductory briefing about the Master of Journalism program, followed by a mobile television demonstration that will give prospective students a taste of what it’s like to be a live news anchor. Faculty members will also demonstrate multimedia tools and explain the work of a web journalist.
The JMSC’s Master of Journalism program takes in between 70 and 80 students a year from a variety of countries and professional backgrounds, and is taught by a faculty of experienced journalists and media scholars. Many JMSC students have come from other professions and have taken the course to embark on new careers in journalism. Graduates have been hired by the world’s leading media organizations, including Bloomberg, CNN, and the Wall Street Journal.
The school’s teaching philosophy reflects the needs of both traditional journalism and today’s changing media landscape, preparing students to practice accurate, honest and high-quality journalism on any and all media platforms. The program also offers specializations in business and finance journalism and reporting on China.
The application deadline for the 2015-2016 academic year is January 31, 2015.
