Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Teaching Assistant to join our team for the Fashion, Politics, and the Global City course. As a TA, you will work closely with the course instructor to help students explore the relationships between fashion and global politics.

Responsibilities:

– Assist the instructor in preparing and delivering course materials, including tutorials, readings, and assignments

– Grade assignments in a timely and fair manner with feedback

– Assist students in brainstorming and developing project ideas for the final assignment; provide guidance and support to students throughout the process of conceptualizing, planning, and executing their fashion show projects

– Collaborate with the instructor to organise a showcase or presentation of the fashion show projects, providing logistical support and ensuring a smooth event

Requirements:

– A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as Cultural Studies, Media Studies, Political Science, or Anthropology

– Strong communication and organisational skills

– Previous experience as a teaching assistant or in a similar role is preferred

– Knowledge and interest in the intersections of fashion and global politics

– Ability to work independently and as part of a team

– Familiarity with HKU’s Moodle system is a plus

This is a part-time position for the duration of the course (2024/25 Fall Semester), with the possibility of extension or renewal for future semesters. The TA will becommensurate with academic credentials and teaching experience.
