Applications Open for Public Course – Understanding China and the Media in the Post-1949 Period

Applications are now open for the public course Understanding China and the Media in the Post-1949 Period to be conducted by veteran journalist and author Qian Gang.

This course will give an overview of the development of contemporary Chinese society through studies of the news media. Qian Gang is co-Director of the China Media Project at the JMSC, and the former managing editor of Southern Weekend.

All HKU colleagues, students and alumni are welcome to enroll in this 10-session course which will be taught in Putonghua.

JMSC alumni, current HKU students and working journalists are entitled to a 20% discount. Current BJs and MJs are exempt from the fee, but must pay a deposit of $500 which will be refunded if they attend 80% of the course.
