This course explores different photographic techniques, purposes and outcomes. It will enable you to identify good techniques and minimize bad photography.. Students will learn how to produce effective portraits, which illuminate the subjects’ personality as well as their appearance. By the end of the course you will be able to effectively tell a story or illustrate an issue through photography.

Michael Coyne will talk about the importance of visual literacy in an image-saturated world. He will discuss the elements of visual literacy and how a powerful picture can tell a story. Michael’s talk will be illustrated by photographs from his international assignments.
