Some 40 potential applicants to the Master of Journalism (MJ) programme attended a JMSC seminar in Shanghai last week, chaired by the Centre’s Director of Broadcasting, Jim Laurie.
Laurie described the JMSC’s MJ programme in detail and gave a lecture on the future of English language television news.
The session, held at The University of Hong Kong Centre on North Suzhou Road, off the Bund, also discussed recent news events, including President Obama’s visit to China and whether he lost face.
Attendees came from Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Tianjin, and proved to be a lively audience with plenty to say.
MJ alumni, Michael Shen Weihuang, who graduated in August, described his experiences at the JMSC. Michael is now employed full-time with the Shanghai Media Group as a reporter on its International Channel Shanghai.
Applications for the 2010 academic year close on February 1, 2010. Admissions are made on a rolling basis until all places are filled. Enrolment is limited. It is wise to apply early. Click here for details.
