| She has been around for over 80 years. She has witnessed a World War and seen the world around go through enormous changes. Yet after all those years the Grande Dame of the Far East is still internationally referred to as one of the finest hotels in the world. |

The Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong
It is as much part of Hong Kong heritage as the Peak and its famous tram, as much a place to see as the Star ferries and as much a place to visit as the Flower market.
Worldwide fame can be attributed to the hotel. It has been a temporary home to movie stars, political leaders, writers and singers. Charlie Chaplin, Frank Sinatra, Muhammed Ali, Elizabeth Taylor, Ronald Reagon; you name it; they have all been there.
It is remarkable how well known the hotel is worldwide. Most Hong Kong tourist guidebooks mention the hotel, some of its rich history and for example the high teas served in the majestic hotel lobby. But what does the Pen, as it is locally often called, mean to the people of the Asian city of lights?
