Hong Kong- March 17, 2009- JMSC - For many local residents, keeping songbirds as pets is an age-old tradition – especially among elderly men. The Yuen Po Bird Garden used to bustle with shoppers bargaining for exotic beauties, but these days, it is a pale reflection of its past. Numerous avian flu outbreaks have affected business there, and by default, the tradition of keeping birds as pets.
