A Visualized Mong Kok, The Beat of Mong Kok

"Greatest cities have the capability of providing something for everybody, only because, and only when, they are created by everybody." -- Jane Jacobs

Located in the heart of Kowloon, Mongkok captures the extreme urban density and neon nightscape of the city with a diverse overlap of public and private spaces making a remarkable interactive meilting pot of activities.

It is a city within a city and mainly inhabited by the local lower middle class; it is a place where old and new exist elbow to elbow; where traditional and modern Hong Kong clashes.

Mong Kok is created by its people, but each one has a different view of Mong Kok. Upper floor residents may complain about falling ceilings and noises, but youngsters don't care. They flood into this area for shopping, eating, and going to movies.

Mong Lok is home to new immigrants, energetic consumers and numerous traders. It is a place of shopping malls and chain stores, of noodle shops and traditional shop hpuses. Mong Kok is the most densely-populated neighbourhood in the world, according to the Guiness Book of World Records.
