Ahmed, Bangladeshi, 40 years old

We spent quite some time in explaining the differences between a registered voter and a Hong Kong identity card holder to Ahmed, who has lived here for 14 years.

“I have never seen any councilor coming to help us,” said the owner of a fashion boutique.

Ahmed thinks the district council should discuss more about immigration policies. Since the reform of Hong Kong’s visa issuing system, he said less Africans could come to buy clothes, which affected his business. It went down by 50 percent.

If registered, Ahmed said he would try to know more about the candidates.

“Voting is very important!” he said.
