The Decline of Professional Football in Hong Kong

Professional Football in Hong Kong suffered a sharp decline in the last decade. Attendance fell, investors and sponsors withdrew, young blood was lacking, stadiums were worn out, and the whole league was run in a mediocre state. Why does Hong Kong football decline so badly? Is there any cure?
