Mid-term Project: Mock-up Story

Script of “Bungling Botanist” story

You have to work in pair – one plays the Botanist and the other plays the Scientist. You will film each other. Then edit your own version with the same source footages.

The VO is provided for you: Botanist_VO

To use the VO file: 1. Unzip the downloaded file; 2. In FCP: File -> Import -> Import File

Montage – It is basically layering of video clips, with a music background and also slowing-down/speeding-up of videos. You can take some long-panning shots/rack-focus shots to build your montage.

Update: Here is a piece of classical music for the montage part. You can also pick up a music that you like.

You are allowed to borrow equipment twice, unless you have any special reason.

Project deadline: Oct 28/29 in class  Nov 4 (Friday)

Phone and Newspaper Sequences Shoot

1. Phone sequence – someone takes out a phone, dials a number, talks on phone, then ends the call and walks away.

2. Newspaper sequence – someone sits down, reads a newspaper and gets shocked, then walks away.

You will pair up in a group, and take turn to shoot the sequences. Each member has to shoot both sequences, so each group should have 4 sequences totally.

Remember to have a variety of W/S, M/S and C/U, tripod and handheld, static and moving shots. Try not to cross the line. It should take an hour or so to finish. (Though not a bad idea to experiment with crossing the line and see what will happen).

If you have time and with your harddrive ready, you can capture the videos and start editing the sequences. The earlier you starts working, the more machine is available.
