JMSC6022: Media Law

Spring 2012

This course examines the major laws, regulations and court decisions affecting the media. It deals with fundamental issues concerning freedom of expression and the different ways in which it is restricted in various jurisdictions, including through contempt of court, privacy, obscenity, defamation and copyright laws. While the main focus is on Hong Kong, it also covers major global media law developments as well as developments in mainland China, the U.S., U.K., E.U., other common law jurisdictions and elsewhere.
