Possibilities and hazards of Street Photography.

Discussion of different approaches.

4 portraits and 4 street.  Max 10.

As long as you stick to the fact that the person you photograph is aware of it and is agreeing with it. A portrait is planned and thought of.That is the difference between a portrait and a street photograph.

Street photography, subjects don’t need to pose for you.

What is photography, history, terminology.

Different types of photography.

Digital vs film technology.

How does a camera work. Automatic vs manual.

Lighting. Lenses.Depth of Field. How to read the camera manual.

Important things to think of when buying a camera.

Week 1: Introductions

Introducing myself.

Course explanation, aim of the course, finding out the students’ levels and what cameras they have and have used, introducing the different aspects of the course.

Start with some photography and camera basics.

JMSC0067 Fall Semester Schedule

Hello and welcome students to the 2011 fall semester JMSC0067 Intro to Photography course taught by Kees Metselaar.

The class will begin on Wednesday, September 7, 2011.  The venue for the class is the DM Lab in Eliot Hall and lasts approximately 3 hours from 9:30am – 12:25pm.  Intro to Photography is a 13 week course.  The final class is scheduled for November 30, 2011.
