Cornelius Rahn, 27, is the perfect example of how a young journalist can turn an internship into a full time job. After graduating with a distinction from the JMSC Master of Journalism programme this summer, he took a three month internship as a reporter at the financial and business news provider, Bloomberg, in Frankfurt, Germany.
The JMSC has established a wide internship network with dozens of local, regional and international media partners that has enabled students to gain valuable on-the-job experience. In a number of cases, internships have led to full-time jobs.
JMSC graduates are sought after by employers world-wide. Alumni now work for international agencies such as Bloomberg, AP, AFP and Thomson-Reuters, local media in Hong Kong and China and for overseas organisations including ABC News, Russia Today and YLE-Finnish TV. Job prospects are not confined to the media: the training received at the JMSC has equipped graduates for careers in fields as diverse as banking, finance, public relations and government service.
