One week to go!
We have an exciting semester ahead of us!
You can click here to download a PDF document of the syllabus. I promise you the syllabus will change somewhat over the course of the semester as we adjust to events, evolving technologies, and class skill levels. It will be updated in the links on the left hand side of this site. While all major revisions will be announced, you are responsible to check this site regularly and make sure you are up-to-date.
STUDENTS TAKING MY CLASS PLEASE NOTE: The textbook Online Journalism: Principles And Practices Of News For The Web by James Foust is required reading for the course. However the HKU bookstore ordered it late and it won’t be arriving until mid-February at the earliest. Therefore I strongly recommend that you click on this link to order a copy of the text – either used or new – from Amazon.com. The book is also available for order from the publisher’s website here.
In addition to the required texts, I have also listed some more books for supplementary reading over in the right-hand column. Those of you who read Chinese may be interested in the Chinese edition of a text called Web Journalism: Practice and Promise of a New Medium by James Stovall,網路新聞學--新媒體的應用實務與展望.
