Course description
This course examines the major laws and regulations, court decisions and pending cases involving freedom of expression, libel, privacy, information access, intellectual property rights, contempt of court and confidentiality of sources. It will also examine the legality of journalistic techniques such as undercover reporting, deception and the use of hidden cameras. Cutting-edge issues involving the Internet will be addressed, including censorship, copyrights and regulatory schemes. While the course will focus on Hong Kong, it will also cover majorĀ globalĀ media law developments as well as developments in mainland China, the United Kingdom, the United States and elsewhere.
