Welcome to the course website for JMSC0019 Media Law and Ethics at the Journalism and Media Studies Centre, the University of Hong Kong. This course examines the ethical and legal issues affecting journalism and journalists in Hong Kong and beyond. We cover such topics as press freedom, defamation, privacy, information access, ethical standard and newsgathering techniques. Thank you all for a terrific semester! It was a lively, provocative class with much discussion and debate! I really enjoyed it and hope you all did too.
The final take-home exam has been distributed. (For an online copy, see Exam page to the left). If you have any questions, please email me and I will respond to the entire class. The exam is due by 5 pm Friday, December 10, 2010. No late copies accepted! Please email me (doreen@hku.hk) the soft copy and leave a hard copy at the JMSC office. Thanks!
