Bu, Wei
Bu, Wei is a professor in the Institute of Journalism and Communication (IJC) at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), director in the Research Center for Children and Media, based in the IJC of CASS, author or editor of six books. She does mainly researches on the children/youth’s use of media and ICTs, feminist media studies, communication for development, empowering vulnerable (margining) groups through communication and research methodology. She participated into the first, second and fourth China Internet Conference, and presented her research on women, and youth use of the Internet. Her recent work explore the communication campaigns from below by youth and migrants– to improve public health, reduce domestic violence, deliver social welfare, develop grassroots culture and media literacy. She currently directs media strategy programs on violence against children, children and HIV/AIDS campaigns in China as consultant for UNICEF China.
