Shanghai Media Group’s ICS/editor & journalist

Shanghai Media Group’s ICS (International Channel of Shanghai)  is looking for one or two full-time editor/journalist for News Deparment.
 
The editor’s job is to rewrite the story based on the sources from AP/Xinhua/Reuters/SMG News Center into ENGLISH. The applicants should be familiar with both English and Chinese Languages. He/She will do two news programs a day.( 12:00 and 21:00). Normally, an editor rewrites 3 to 4 stories a day.
 
The journalist provides one piece of pkg a day for the night news. He/She chooses topic in the editorial meeting every monring(expect weekends, they don’t have to work), and go out with their cameraman to shot and interview in the afternoon. The journalist also should have good bilingual skills, as many interviews are conducted in Chinese.
 
Sometimes, editor also need to go out doing pkgs as journalist. Both editor and journalist do the video editing and dubbing work themselves.

Italian TV La7 Beijing Bureau is looking for a news assistant. The ideal candidate must have a strong interest in current events in China, in-depth research abilities under limited supervision and be fluent in Chinese and English.    Main tasks: monitoring Chinese media, finding stories, researching topics, arranging interviews and trips, assisting with translations and correspondence.

Works hours can be normal office hours but flexibility to the story development is a must.

TVB Money Magazine/Part-time position

Hong Kong Jockey Club Job Recruitment: Audio & Visual Producer

The Broadcasting Services Department is responsible for the live coverage of horse racing in Hong Kong and the production of related promotional video and documentaries for on-air at TV stations as well as display on the giant display screens and closed-circuit TV network at the racecourses. 

The Chinese Broadcasting team is responsible for producing horse racing related TV programs in the form of live broadcasting and pre-recording format for free–to-air TV.

Assistant Audio & Visual Producer  Ref : AAVP

You will:

• Assist in the live telecast
• Assist AV producer in producing TV programs, TV promos and documentaries
• Be required to work on both raceday and non-raceday

You should have:

• 5 passes in HKCEE including English with at least 2 years relevant experience in TV stations
• hands-on skills in Betacam and off-line video tape editing
• hands-on skills in PC software e.g. Final Cut Pro, AVID, Photoshop, After Effect)
• good command in both spoken and written English and Chinese
• knowledge in horse racing will be an advantage

Al Jazeera English

The Al Jazeera English language 24 x 7 Television News Channel is seeking in early 2009 to fill several positions in the Asian region.
 
    1. Beijing Bureau Chief.   The right candidate will lead the Al Jazeera team in China which currently comprises two on-air correspondents, two crews and a four person Chinese staff. The posting is a senior, off-air position. The candidate should have China experience and language, an international outlook, and
good management, diplomatic, and people skills.
 
      2.    Correspondent Seoul.    The right candidate will be a strong on-air correspondent with good knowledge of Northeast Asia.   She or he will lead a small news bureau responsible for coverage of the two Koreas,  Japan, and Taiwan.  
 
      3.    Correspondent and Producer – Delhi.    Two positions are open.   A correspondent is sought to join an existing team to enhance the coverage of India from Delhi.  The right candidate would be possessed of strong international broadcast skills, good knowledge of India and South Asia, and good on-air presence.  The right producer would have strong organizational ability, good television packaging skills, a high degree of technical knowledge, and speak at least one Indian language.

The Role
 
In this position, you will manage the expectations and relationships of CNN/Turner network and its commercial distribution affiliates (both the linear and non linear platforms) by building and maintaining strong relationships with our partners. The role requires the development and execution of effective marketing activities and the creation, management and execution of events that support both the corporate objectives and the Sales objectives which provide value to our partners and ultimately builds brand awareness and loyalty amongst our viewers. This role presents an extraordinary opportunity to manage and support CNN and Turner’s business to business and busines to consumer relationships across the Asia Pacific.
 
 
The Responsibilities
 
-         Conceptualize and implement effective marketing programs that directly support mobile and cable affiliate acquisition and retention. Building/maintaining strong relationships with affiliate partners is integral to success along with the development of marketing activities that strengthen our position as a valued partner. These activities include advertising, retention drives, product training, on-ground events and consumer engagement.
-         Oversee planning/procedures for timely delivery and management of all programming and scheduling information for Affiliates. This includes production of monthly EPG’s, knowledge of scheduling, liaison with the Atlanta programming team and well as the delivery of effective customer service for Affiliates.
-         Create, build and manage Turner/CNN events that support strategic business objectives such as affiliate relationship building exercises (ie. Turner Invitational Matches TIM); industry events (ie: CASBAA & PCTA Convention) and customer partnership marketing (ie: Stahub Exhibition & FOXTEL Easter Show). Drive and oversee procedures from conception to execution for all events and premium management. The ability to lead teams and build strong alliances with counterparts in TENA/Turner is essential.
-         Implement best practice, performance monitoring and post event/campaign analysis of all affiliate marketing and event related activities to ensure ROI and effective use of budgets. This will be supported by pre-and post activity reports.
-         Responsibility for managing the Marketing Coordinator, providing guidance, mentoring and leadership for development and growth.
 
The Requirements
 
·         This role requires an individual who is an independent, motivated, creative thinker with a positive and flexible attitude and a genuine passion for partnership marketing.
·         3-5 years of experience in marketing and/or events management or partnership experience in a relevant area. Work experience in business-to-business marketing or client relationship management is an advantage.
·         The experience and professional maturity to guide a team to achieve common goals and negotiate complex relationships with internal and external partners and vendors.
·         You must possess a detail oriented work ethic, developed organizational skills, the ability to multi-task and to find creative solutions to problems.
·         An excellent command of English communications and presentation skills is a must.
·         Experience and knowledge of the Cable and Satellite industry and a passion for TV is an advantage.
·         Travel is required.

ATV English News positions

ATV English News is looking for applicants for the following positions:

Reporter/translator for Inside Story, its English documentary programme.

Fluent written and spoken Cantonese is essential. Written and spoken Mandarin a plus.
You will be required to translate stories, and also be responsible for editing and producing stories for broadcast. Reporting experience, enthusiasm and a hard-working attitude please. Send application to englishnews@atv.com.hk.

Sports reporter/presenter

He/she would need to report on all the major sports stories of the day, both Hong Kong and international events. They would be expected to present the sports segment of the news as well. The successful candidate would also be required to contribute to other news
duties as well, not just sport.

Sports journalism experience and an interest in sport is a must. Experience of other forms of journalism is also an advantage. TV news and presenting experience is desirable for

Daily Reporter

TVB Producers/Reporters

TVB is looking for:

A full-time reporter/producer and a part-time reporter/producer for The Pearl Report, an English-language documentary show dealing in a wide range of topics.
 
The successful full-time candidate will have to produce her/his own 25 min. documentaries. That entails initiating or being assigned a story, doing the research and filming with a crew, logging tapes and scripting, editing with a tape editor and doing post production work with a programme director. The Pearl Report covers all topics except purely business/finance issues. This includes, political, social, educational, medical, educational, socio-political etc etc issues both in HK and around the world. 

 The successful part-time candidate will have the opportunity to produce her/his own shows, besides helping non-Chinese speaking producers when they have to interview and log tapes of Chinese speaking interviewees. Thus applicants should be fluent in both English and Chinese, although the scripting will be in English only.
