Applications for the 2018–2019 Master of Journalism (MJ) programme is now open, and the JMSC will be holding an Information Session for prospective students on campus at The University of Hong Kong.

The event will be held in the Digital Media Lab of Eliot Hall, the JMSC headquarters, on Wednesday, 6 December at 6:30 p.m.

Kevin Sites, Director of the MJ Programme, will give an introductory presentation covering the programme’s structure, courses, and entry requirements. MJ hopefuls will also be able to tour the JMSC facilities to see the equipment available for students to use during the course of their studies, including the JMSC’s broadcast studio and production facility.

The JMSC’s MJ programme takes in around 70 students a year from around the world and from different professional backgrounds, and is taught by a faculty of experienced journalists and media scholars. Many JMSC students are working journalists, with other coming from other professions and have taken the course to embark on new careers in journalism. Graduates have been hired by the world’s leading media organisations, including BBC, Bloomberg, CNN, and The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal.

The Centre’s teaching philosophy reflects the needs of both traditional journalism and today’s changing media landscape, preparing students to practise accurate, honest and high-quality journalism on all media platforms.

The programme offers a wide range of elective courses, including business journalism, data journalism, long form and feature writing, covering China, international reporting, and documentary filmmaking.

The application deadline for the 2018–2019 academic year is 31 January 2018.
