Call for entry to compete in HK’s First Editors Lab Hackdays

  • Compete in Hong Kong’s first Editors Lab on December 4th-5th
  • Teams will compete at HKU to develop innovative video news prototypes
  • Each team will consist of a journalist, a developer and a designer
  • No preparation needed

This event is organised by the Journalism and Media Studies Centre (JMSC) and the Global Editors Network (GEN) at the University of Hong Kong and supported by Google.

Teams can register by contacting our programme managers Waliyah Sahqani, JMSC (waliyahs@connect.hku.hk) and Evangeline de Bourgoing, GEN (edebourgoing@globaleditorsnetwork.org). Up to 10 teams are expected to participate in the competition. Register ASAP to secure a place for your team. Teams can register as member of media organizations or independents.

Participating teams will be in contact with the best digital news pioneers in Hong Kong, learning about the latest industry developments from leading experts in the field. The winning team – chosen by a panel of expert judges – will win an all-expenses paid trip to Vienna to compete in the Editors Lab Final at the GEN Summit.

Since 2012, the Editors Lab’s worldwide series of hackdays have been hosted around the globe by the world’s leading newsrooms, and this year’s event will conclude in an international two-day final competition at the GEN Summit in Vienna, Austria in June 2016.

The programme is implemented in partnership with the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA), the School of Journalism and Communication of Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Associated Press.
