Effective Writing for public communication

Instructor: Barry Kalb
Date/Time: April 14, 10:00 – 13:00 & April 15, 9:30 – 12:30
Venue: KB110

This course will teach you how to write press releases, public notices and other published material that will get your message across.

In Hong Kong, hundreds if not thousands of press releases and public notices are churned out every day by universities, private organizations, political parties, the Hong Kong government and others. A huge proportion of these fail to convey the intended messages to the authors’ desired audiences: they are badly written, badly organized, confusing, and not written so as to interest their target audience.

He will demonstrate how to identify an audience, how to select which facts to include, and how to structure a published message to achieve maximum effect.
