The China Media Project generates original, systematic, and multi-faceted research in the field of Chinese journalism. The project has extensive contacts with mainland Chinese media and works directly with editors, writers and producers to document and understand the transformation underway in China’s media.
The Media Law Project is a unique research and training programme for journalists, students, academics, media lawyers and others in the communications industry in Hong Kong, mainland China and the region.
The Public Health Communications Programme was launched in response to the SARS epidemic in 2003. SARS demonstrated the need for journalists as well as health communicators to be adequately trained to report and communicate to the public during health crises.
JMSC Media Research Seminars – Recent topics include the environmental impact of media, media coverage of the Japanese earthquake, computational journalism and human rights movements in post-communist east central Europe.
