George Soros coming to HKU

Following the huge success of George Soros’ recent lectures at the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary, the phenomenally successful international financier and philanthropist is coming to talk at the University of Hong Kong on February 3rd.

A Conversation with George Soros will allow students and members of the public to ask Soros questions about his economic and political views. During his recent lecture series ‘Open Society, the Financial Crisis and the Way Ahead’, which was telecast live at HKU last October, Soros looked East and devoted a whole lecture to China.

George Soros is Hungarian-American and is listed by Forbes as the 29th richest person on the planet. Worth an estimated US$13 billion, Soros has given more than US$7 billion away to what he considers worthy causes. His philanthropy has funded anti-apartheid campaigns, pro-democracy groups and poverty-eradicating organisations.

Soros has a strong interest in an independent media. His Open Society Institute was founded in 1993 to promote human rights, social and economic reform, an independent media, public health and education, and to make governments more accountable to their citizens.

Take advantage of this rare opportunity to meet George Soros and ask him questions on China, politics, the economy and philanthropy.
